About Kinsey:

Kinsey Weems is a life-long resident of Calvert County. Born at Calvert Memorial Hospital in the early hours on a cold April morning in 1979. Raised on a tobacco and cattle farm in St. Leonard with his two brothers and sister, Kinsey is no stranger to the rural life of the County. For many years he followed behind the tobacco planters replacing the plants to the ground that didn’t quite place properly. He often reminisces with his family and friends about the days when the fields were full of corn and tobacco.

During his teenage years, he learned many of life’s lessons while working to stock shelves and the displays in his Grandmother’s general store in St. Leonard. As soon as he was old enough at the age of 16, Kinsey followed in his parents’ footsteps and joined his local fire department to become a volunteer firefighter and emergency medical technician. He continues to proudly volunteer to this day, marking his 20th year of service in 2015.

At the age of 17, after a lengthy conversation with his mother and father, Kinsey made the decision to join the United States Army. Just eleven days after his High School graduation, Kinsey left for Basic Combat Training in South Carolina. Remaining in Fort Jackson, he studied to become a Light Wheel Vehicle Mechanic. After six years, he changed careers to become a Military Police Officer and attended the US Army Police training in Fort Leonardwood, Missouri. Kinsey then served an additional six years in the United States Army serving in the Pacific Command and the Training and Doctrine Command. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1996 until he was honorably discharged in 2008.

Battling the economic crisis of 2008, Kinsey encountered many of the same difficulties as others with job loss, wage cuts, and hiring freezes. The transition from military life was not easy as with many of the jobs that he qualified were closed because of the economic issues of the time. Using benefits from the military he applied to become a student at the Prince George’s Community College where he attended Criminal Justice and Psychology courses. He is a firm believer that training and education are paramount in Law Enforcement today and for the future.

Kinsey currently works as a Maryland Law Enforcement Officer in Prince George’s County, Maryland. Not only is he Maryland certified as a Police Officer, but also as a Police and Firearms Instructor. He has always been proud to be a public servant; consistently putting others needs before his own. His passion for Law Enforcement is driven deep into his families’ roots, going back almost a century, beginning with his Great Grandfather.

Kinsey currently lives in Port Republic, Maryland with his children and his loving other half.
